One Saturday afternoon, I decided to take Cynthia on a picnic. We decided to spread our blanket out underneath a big old oak tree that sat up on a hill. Turns out her father used to take her to that very spot when she was little. Her father died when she was four years old.
I could sense sadness in eyes and in her voice. So, I decided that it was time to make her smile! She didn’t have a clue as to what was about to happen.
With a long look in her eyes, I bent down on one knee. For a minute, she looked at me as if I had lost my mind. “Cynthia,” I said. “Will you marry me?” I thought that she was going to fall to the ground right then and there! “Yes!!” she screamed! She jumped and hugged me so tightly that I thought that I was going to pass out!
